Known for its positively ambrosial desserts and elaborate wine list with more than 2000 international labels, Lola the Restaurant provides an excellent gustatory experience. The staff provides near perfect service and is engaged and informed about the menu. From the free valet service to the evening’s farewell greetings, the staff’s goal is to make each visit a personal one.
Chef David Uyguri's plates don’t necessarily provide the most attractive presentation, but the flavor combinations of his New American cuisine are nonetheless worth the moderate to expensive prices. A traditional four-course meal starts around $50. The ambiance is elegant, but doesn’t mean that larger groups aren’t welcome. Guests can sit in the main dining hall or choose outdoor seating. Set back from the street, the restaurant appears charming and innocent. Not a place for the young hipster crowd, Lola provides a tranquil grace in a small clapboard house. The setting inside is not established for mingling. Tables are set well enough apart for couples to whisper secret-nothings and for clever business deals to occur among the restaurant’s corporate clients. Texans might be known for their meat selections, but vegetarians will feet quite at home at this Dallas restaurant located in Uptown. But don’t fret meat eaters; Lola has a number of fantastic meat entrées. The New American cuisine includes such saporous selections in its nightly four-course meal as spring turnip soup, Maine oysters served with a champagne and horseradish mignonette, sweetbread ravioli, grilled quail with apricot, side dishes like cooked spinach and black mission figs and an absolutely heavenly heirloom tomato salad. For the saccharine taste buds, the dessert menu is nothing less than divine. Sweet items might include a silky milk chocolate mousse, a warm jasmine rice pudding or a carrot sorbet. The menu is changed daily and is subject to season and availability. For an extra special experience, guests can reserve Lola’s Tasting Room. The tasting room option offers a 10-course meal of petite plates selected directly by the chef. Eight intimate tables are available for seating between 6.00 and 8.30 in the evening. Whether visitors decide to taste or to sit in the main dining room, reservations are required. |
