Dallas has a shining star among the sushi restaurant pack. Teppo is a hip and trendy scene for young people sipping sake while dining on a delightful sushi and sashimi meal. Moderately priced, the restaurant nonetheless provides a chic, streamlined and relaxed feel to dining out with chopsticks.

A bamboo patio compliments the restaurant and allows diners to enjoy romantically warm summer evenings. The trendy, but cleanly designed restaurant interior gives a certain Japanese authenticity even when filled with a crowd of young Dallas professionals.

Teppo is the first authentic sushi bar in Dallas that focuses on both sushi and yakitori. Founded in 1995 by Teiichi Sakurai, Teppo still dominates Dallas' Japanese cuisine and was voted in 2004-2005 in the Zagat Awards for 'America's Top Restaurants.'

Yakitori, as explained by Teppo restaurant chefs, is a traditional Japanese appetizer that is served before the first round of sushi. Recommendations include the restaurant’s famous Chicken Meatballs dipped in quail egg and Japanese red pepper.

The service is fun, inviting and interactive. Guests can sit at the bar and watch sushi chefs, Masayuki Otaka and Tomoya Takahashi, both from Japan, prepare tasty Japanese yakitori or sushi and sashimi. Other guests may prefer to sit in the dining room or on the patio.

Fresh seafood selections are shipped in daily and are prepared with or without rice in traditional Japanese style. Teppo is also known for receiving daily shipments of unusual specialty items. Some of these are Abalone, Spiney Lobster and Bluefin Tuna among others.
