Nothing says intimacy like Dallas' French Room. Centrally located in downtown Dallas and housed in the revered Adolphus Hotel, the French Room is all about finery. Visitors should expect to dress in their most elegant attire. Open only for dinner, this restaurant emanates romance.

The French Room’s purely magical interior design with large fresco ceilings, marble floors and Italian chandeliers is enough to visually stun its guests. But design is not all it has to offer. It received the Zagat Guide’s Survey of America’s vote for top restaurant in both categories of decor and deliciousness. The restaurant has maintained a near perfect food score for years running.

The staff knows the business of food and wine. They are well informed about each bottle and each sublime meal. One word of advice, however, is not to be intimidated. The French Room provides an air of luxury and refinement that is designed to make each guest feel like royalty -- if only for a few hours.

The hotel has been a Dallas treasure since its opening in 1981. Executive Chef Jason Weaver utilizes his French culinary techniques in his American kitchen. The result is of course an international masterpiece. Guests often start with a fine selection of caviar appetizers or they might order superb pan-roasted veal sweetbreads served with a wild mushroom risotto or a curry-dusted ahi tuna served with quail egg, cucumber and yuzu cream.

A potato and caramelized onion-wrapped gulf red snapper, an exotic spiced duck breast served with seared fois gras with sweet potato gnocchi or a Black Angus beef steak with Moroccan spices are all uniquely interesting items from the entrée list that scream both unusual and delightful. And as is most often the case with an excellent French restaurant, desserts just can’t be declined. Visitors should indulge in such selections as the carrot cake French toast complemented with warm apple gelée, Ceylon cinnamon oil and cream cheese ice cream.

All of these exciting French influenced American dishes are mouthwatering, sensually awakening the senses of each diner. The rumors are true: the French Room provides a positively palatial experience.
