Jason Kidd has traveled full circle. Coming back home to the Dallas Mavericks where his pro career began is a move that offered two opportunities; to win another championship, and to end his career where it began.

Over-30 professional athletes have much to reflect on, and Jason is no exception. He entered the Dallas franchise immediately after a much-hyped draft from the Golden Bears of the University of California, Berkeley. Much was expected of him and Dallas was new to him. His accomplishments on the court were impressive, but he lasted less than three seasons with Dallas. Kidd went on to Phoenix and eventually to the New Jersey Nets.

No matter which team Kidd travels to, he’s known. He’s had an illustrious career and his fans appreciate him. Anyone who visits a Mavericks game will always remember having seen him, whether they rooted for him or not. Star power is what often brings people into arenas. Jason Kidd is a nine-time NBA All-Star, is an Olympic Gold Medalist and his name is now again associated with the Dallas Mavericks; the franchise benefits from having Kidd on their roster no matter if he wins or loses.

Like teammate Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd is devoted to the efforts of his own Jason Kidd Foundation that is dedicated to improving the welfare of youth in the community. Events and programs, such as the Celebrity Tournament, Boys Night Out and his "Assist 4 Kids" program, have raised funds for children's medical research and other charitable organizations that support the needs and interest of children.

As Jason Kidd's professional basketball career winds down, the impact he's left on Dallas youth will undoubtedly last lifetimes.
