Professional sports have gone interactive. Bringing Dallas fans and the Mavericks organization closer together took an electronic turn as the Mavs recently became the first pro team to launch an informational, fan-based “Wiki” site, www.MavsWiki.com. Now, game-spectators can show and tell all by blogging, discussing, chatting and posting videos before, during and after any game they choose. At ease, refs. All’s kept clean. The site is moderated, so any language and opinions expressed exclude 4-letter inputs.
A visit to this new site includes a look back; a full history of the team is offered for every season of the Mavs’ playing existence. Pages and links are abundant for every player on their roster. Logging in to this new online venue is simple and not even necessary to participate. As long as you can spell Nowiki, I mean, Nowitski correctly, you’re good to go. Do you have a favorite Mavs moment and you’re not shy talking about it? Every sports fan, especially Dallas Mavericks fans have stories to tell. That’s part of the whole experience, being able to relive and share the excitement and passion of the instant replay that lives inside your head. Now, it’s just a left- and/or right-click away. It’s not difficult to imagine that, before long, every team will be going “live” and launching a Wiki. After all, getting the fans as involved as possible leads to increased team and player support. Doesn’t it? Who knows? Maybe the Dallas turnoff from the Information SuperHighway is the one exit that leads the Mavericks straight back to the NBA Playoffs. |
